The Devil is in the Detail
Original piano solo by Justin James
Level: Advanced
About this Composition:
This is a study in tactility motility. That’s not really a thing. I just made it up. No doubt, this piece will develop your tactile skills at the piano. It is chromatic, diminished and is a great contrast between the lighter and heavier sound. There are elements of the romantic etude, thrown into a bowl and stirred with left-hand blues shapes, the seasoned. It’s mentally very "on" an active, so you need to practice slowly to ensure that a level of mastery is effortlessly attained, or the devil may not be in the detail, from a Faustian point of view. Virtuoso playing starts in the mind and memory.
