So. some of us are a bit ordinary. A little bit human.
Being a musician, means appreciating music in your heart and mind like it's yours.
Being a musician, has nothing to do with what other people think. It is your personal journey. No other path is similar.
Being a musician, means letting go of perfectionism and growing a level of compassion for yourself. Embrace error. Create space and things will flow.
Being a musician, means being grateful for the challenges that seem so difficult and humbly working on them, slowly and steadily.
Being a musician, is knowing we are blessed to be learning this language and building on our ways to express it.
Being a musician, is developing intuition, yet learning to counter that intuition and let go of the need for certainty and comparison.
Being a musician, is being able to play and rest, identifying the difference between practice and performance, sight reading and dedicated phrase awareness.
Being a musician, means creating and sense of dominion and calm when you are away from the instrument.
Being a musician, means a commitment to thinking differently. Eliminating as much self doubt or anxiety or “standardising" as possible.
Being a musician, means feeling the physical connection to the instrument. Being able to tell if our shoulders are tense or our wrist is stiff or our thumb is tight.
Being a musician, means stopping the control and learning to sing, counting internally and working in small increments to free our expression.
Being a musician, isn’t just about playing a bunch of correct notes or learning how to finish a piece.
Being a musician, is about being an authentic, thinking and feeling human being.
