About this Song:
It has had three iterations before being committed to sheet music and formatted. It started out as a downbeat ballad, which has evolved over the years into a mid-tempo, nostalgic shuffle. The song seeks to capture the emptiness that lies at the heart of the grandeur of a huge loss. The hope that somehow, the head and heart may meet again, to recapture the past, or reclaim a similar present, only to resign to understanding that for a while, you will feel alone, experience the separation and mourn for a beautiful part of the past that is gone. I wrote this with a deliberate key change after the words "missing those days with you", because it is subito (suddenly) emotionally maliable and adds musical colour and context to the lyrics.
My thanks to Chris Brown for his wonderful words and his contributions to our partnership over the last forty years. While we didn't achieve the success we had hoped for, it wasn't for lack of effort or quality.
This song was written in between 1988-1990.
