This is about all things three. A triangulating Bach Prelude style composition. There is an elegance in a musical mathematical symbiosis. Music waves come in various shapes. Sine, square, triangle, sawtooth, er and noise. A symmetry through the gradients of the Pythagorean Theorem and the Law of Cosines. 
 
The word trigonometry is a composite of trigonon (triangle) and metron (measure). The piece starts without pedal, a nod back to the many decades it took to settle on a pedal system for this instrument. It is a true test of your articulation. As pedaling begins in the hands. Most of the work is how you interpret melody, harmony and phrasing. Then comes the pedaling.  There are key areas to work on in this piece. One, being the rotation and stretches, two, being arpeggiation and three, being aural sculpturing of the balance between the hands.
 
The hypotenuse is always the longest side of a triangle, holding a 90-degree angle together. Music operates in such a way, constantly vying for direction, amidst an underlying tension. This piece is an uplifting, innocent look back at the music we must not take for granted.
 
I listen to the Bach Preludes and Fugues most weeks, if not monthly, like clockwork. There is no greater understanding of the universe than through the aural and visual lens. Bach is a sanctuary.
